A-host plans centre to help local developers

To help local independent software vendors (ISVs) gain experience in developing solutions with the latest technologies, Application Hosting Services (A-HOST) has joined with Oracle, Hewlett-Packard (Thailand) and Software Park Thailand to set up the A-HOST Oracle Solution Centre.

A-HOST managing director Bunprasit Tangchaisuk said the centre hopes to build a community of local ISVs and encourage local developers to build solutions based on the Oracle Enterprise Database, Fusion Middleware, as well as applications based on the HP platform. The centre will be used for skill development, proof-of-concept prototypes and technical workshops with assistance from Oracle and A-HOST.

The centre will also offer solution demonstrations. As of now, there are 120 ISVs participating at the centre and it is expected that this number will double in the next five years.

"The centre will facilitate ISVs, customers and local partners in developing solutions, such as grid computing, customer relation management and software-service applications to attain international standard," Bunprasit said.

Oracle Asean regional managing director Natasak Rodjanapiches said the company will provide Oracle solutions, its e-business suite and Oracle applications to support the centre.

It will use its Product Technology Services team, which is a pooled-resource team, to support and assist local business partners. The company will support local partners through various technical and marketing programmes under the Oracle Partner Network.

Hewlett-Packard ( Thailand) managing director Sapat Sopon said the initiative is in line with HP's direction to utilise information technology to enable Thai people to enter the information technology era.

Software Park Thailand director Suwipa Wanasathop said the centre will encourage local software companies and partners in creating an environment conducive to the development of the software industry.

Through the centre's efforts, the park will help build connections to the market.

"We expect that the centre will help in developing the local software industry, improve the quality of products and services as well as promote ICT use among customers and offer greater benefits to them," Suwipa said.
